Crime is an on-going, endemic national issue. The recent economic crisis, massive work layoffs, and increased standard of living are possible factors that contribute towards an increase in crime in residential neighbourhoods.
Having said that, crime is not a singular matter: the modus operandi/way of working of criminals depend and vary over time and the type of crime. As such, to confront crime through one way alone will never really solve the problem; what is needed is a more thorough look at our lifestyles, and how we can reduce as much as possible our risk and exposure to crime.
To this end, the 1,000-odd households living in Rahim Kajai and Aminuddin Baki are looking to change some of the things about our neighbourhood, starting with becoming a 24hr-gated community.
